Amplifying Unit (AJ and Video) 295

This unit accepts the video output from the Amplifier (IF) type 3711. It consists of a cathode-follower having a short time-constant (generally referred to as the STC circuit), a low-pass filter, a limiting stage, and an output cathode-follower which gives two separate outputs. The bandwidth of the unit is 4 Mc/s at 6 dB voltage drop.

The video, signal from the amplifying unit Type 296 is normally fed directly to the limiting stage; the latter then limits the amplitude of the signals to prevent overloading of the subsequent stages. When interference is present, however, either the STC circuit, the LPF circuit, or both, can be switched into circuit, and the effect of interfering signals is thus minimized.

The limiting stage feeds a cathode-follower, the full output of which is fed to the video stages on the main radar indicating unit.
